The general idea is to see my stones featuring in a story-book. I think they are very suited for that purpose. I have been selling them for quite some years now and most people seemed to be charmed by them, adore them, actually. They have a great impact. This is important, because they have already 'past the test'... They have been thouroughly tried-out, so to say and are simply a 'big hit'... Normally, I don't like to 'explain' my work, 'you see it or you don't...' but in this case I think I should. The combination stone/face is of course original. (Although it probably has been done before, but not to my knowledge...) But the real 'secret' is the 'exactness' of the expressions. There is no mistake about how they 'feel'... (Seemingly simple, but in effect the result of over forty years of expirience in drawing faces...)...Yes, 'simple' is another important word, because 'simple' always means 'easy accessible' as well. And most important, they are 'cute', even the grumpy, angry and sad ones... The next step now is to 'launch' them... "Let's start at the end..." Where do I want them to go and how..? Them becomming the next biggest, world-wide rage, after Disney, the Simpsons and Harry Potter,would be 'nice', of course... Slightly more realistic (for now...): A story book about them seems the first logical step. So I need stories. More then that actually, a concept of stories, story-lines and a consistency in planning... It goes without saying that the stories are equally important as the illustrations. 'What kind of stories ?' is the next logical question. I am very open for brilliant suggestions, here. Let me give you an idea of what I first had in mind. First of all, it is an analogue. The stones represent people, of course. People with their social needs. The phenomenon how induviduals can change completely, when they become part of a group, or better said, how they loose part of their individuality, when joining a group, has always facinated and appalled me. Religions are of course a good example. Or how Hitler managed to do what he did, but even a 'harmless' thing as being a tourist sets it of already...Compulsive group-behavior. As well in smaller groups, family, friend and especially neighbours. How much of your individual personality are you willing to give up to 'belong' ? But on the other hand nobody wants to be lonely, either... Social out-casts, stygmatising society, lonelyness again, etcetera... Not exactly a book for children, although children like my stones very much..The cuteness is an important factor, as said, which means that the stories can be a little more daring, direct, confronting, outrageous, critical, then stories without the 'soothing' and humoristic effect of the illustrations. ------ It might maybe become obvious, that it is not a 'one-time' project, they are very usable for a serial appearance. Animation, for intance, is defnitly a next step. 'Launching them' is indeed a good way of putting it. So I don't think I am looking for a ghost-writer, although that is always an option, but I am thinking more in the line of a full partnership construction. Developing it all together would be very interesting, I think.
An animation project is eventually an interesting idea as well, but a story-book seems a logical starting point, first. Because I have been trying to write the stories myself, I have a lot of ideas. We can discuss them of course in a later stage, but first I´m hoping to find somebody (...well, a writer, of course...) who is 'instantly' inspired by my creations...and would love to write stories about them.
